I'm not good at journaling. But I do like my Mac. And I often have random bits of ideas float through my head that I wish I could pin down in a portable format. Hence, this blog: a place for outward commentary, and digital logging of things I might want to remember later.

midnite rollerblading in african sleepdresses
this is what occurs when my roommate has caffeinated tea and i get a burst of motivation to fully dedicate myself to creative procrastination. So Ramadan ended last week, and Miriam returned bearing gifts from a long weekend at home w/ her family for Eid! yay:). Raq got a Somali sleep dress, brown w/ a sun-type pattern on it, very pretty. so i put mine on, the one that M gave me at the beginning of the year, and a happy pair were we. this is how it happened.
R: I like this thing! It's really comfortable. It feels like I'm naked. (**always a plus in rachel's world**)
H: true. now don't talk to me, i need to write this article for The Record
.. 20 minutes later, after making no progress on said article
R: Oh no, I just drank black tea!
H: Dear God no! Why, WHY would you do that??? (thinking w/ horror of the time last month when a double mocha at 10pm turned her into a manic live wire and i felt like the only way to shut her up so i could sleep would be with the help of a 2x4...)
R: Ooh, let's go rollerblading!
H: Ok. But only if we go in these sleepdresses.
R: Really? Okay!
And so we did. we stopped by a friend's apt, who might be a lil weirded out in the morning to see a note on the fridge that wasnt there when he went to bed. who leaves their door unlocked at night anymore these days? it was nice. we helped ourselves to juice, and butterscoth nestle chips. then headed back, surprised the late-nite studyers in the Mac lab, found a building w/ great floors for skating, almost like a rink, so spun around in there for a while, played pool, had a random political discussion with a stray insomniac, and came back "to go to bed." but we're still up. i'm blogging for the 2nd time ever, and raq's looking up random inane facts on the information superhighway. there is no excuse for this really. it was a beautiful nite, and a joyful jaunt which surely brought amusement to all the noctural creatures we encountered. ah, the making of a memory...
